From editor or global species database
Spelling It is currently unclear whether C. latistriatus (Curtis, 1845) or C. latestriatus (Curtis, 1845) is the valid spelling. The species was mentioned first in the publication of Curtis 1845 as latistriatus but later in the text as latestriatus. C. latestriatus was used by hundreds of authors in undreds of publications as C. latestriatus but only in very few publications as latistriatus. According to Read & Enghoff (2023) it should be latistriatus (Principle of priority, Article 23 ICZN) but this case meets also the criteria of Principle of stability (Article 82.1. ICZN). Until this case is submitted and decided by the International Commission on Zoological Nomenclature, C. latestriatus is retained here in MilliBase to avoid confusion. [details]
